Africa Tourism Partners (ATP) has rescheduled its Africa MICE Masterclass to take place from Tuesday, March 13 to Friday, March 16, 2018. It was previously scheduled to take place from Tuesday, February 20, to Friday, February 23, 2018. This change has been necessitated by the need to accommodate more Africa Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions/Events (MICE) practitioners who wish to attend. The course will, among others, focus on the latest industry research and trends that present opportunities for attendees to keep up to date and respond to fast-changing trends and developments in the industry.
Countries like Rwanda, Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe are increasingly focusing on business and event tourism to advance their strategic priorities in tourism. This, undoubtedly, underscores the relevance of the MICE sector as a strategic source for progressive African economies to grow tourist arrivals and receipts and enhance their competitiveness. Project Director Ms. Maureen Bandama indicates that the Masterclass offers attendees an avenue to engage in very important conversations with experts and peers. “It is a catalyst to propel MICE and business tourism in Africa to a higher league. As a result, prospective attendees will include representatives of leading MICE destinations, Tourism Authorities, Convention Centres, Convention and Visitors Bureaux (CVB), Event Planners, Account Directors, Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs), Municipalities and more from across Africa,” she highlights.
The Masterclass is an opportunity for peer-to-peer learning through a series of interactive sessions which are supported by our partners, leading industry associations, advisory organisations and research institutions. ATP therefore urges all MICE tourism practitioners in Africa to take advantage of this valuable opportunity. Ms. Thembi Mthembu, Business Development Manager at Africa Tourism Partners, points out that the course outline has been crafted to support not only MICE destinations and tourism boards, but also to foster capacity building, management development and leadership in Africa’s MICE tourism sector. “It will provide insights and inspiration to veterans, new entrants, entrepreneurs and everyone in between,” she emphasizes.
