Green tourism, skills tourism, destination management, and digitalization were the four key deliverables discussed at the G20 Tourism Working Group meetings in Goa, India.

The outcome will be the Goa roadmap for tourism.

Hosted by India, the meeting is attended by tourism leaders from many parts of the world, including UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and WTTC CEO Julia Simpson, among dignitaries including the Chief Minister of Goa.

Even the former PATA CEO Liz Origuera was seen with WTTC CEO Julia Simpson as one team.

The Goa roadmap for tourism will be defined and drafted in Goa, stated V Vidyavathi, Secretary of Tourism, Government of India

Hosting this event, India wants to show the world the most populated nation and oldest democracy in the world is ready for tourism.

Goa is working on becoming the most desirable cruise destination in the world.

The G20 Working Group Meeting will host a public-private dialogue co-organized by the Ministry of Tourism in Goa in association with the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).

It is expected to allow participants to share their priorities and concerns and identify opportunities for mutual support and greater private-public partnership.

In the G20 meeting, resilience is an important topic, especially after the UN established a global tourism resilience day.

Waste management, tourism education about protecting the environment, e-bicycle services, floating restaurants, bungee jumping, spiritual tours, and new tourism opportunities are showcased and discussed at the G20 in Goa.

India hopes the meeting would ensure the shaping of a roadmap for sustainable tourism and promoting international cooperation.

Therefore the end of the fourth and final Tourism Working Group Meeting and the G20 Tourism Ministerial Meeting that follows, a Goa Roadmap and Action Plan and a ministerial communique endorsing it will be issued.

The chief minister said, that Goa, being the first state in India to receive the global Safe Travel stamp from the WTTC, was committed to reinventing its tourism sector after the COVID pandemic in a more responsible manner.

The World Travel and Tourism Council, India Initiative (WTTCII), was launched in February 2000 to raise awareness about the role travel and tourism play in the development and growth of the economy in the country.

The Goa chief minister said good governance was the cornerstone of a prosperous nation, and ”India has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to effective governance through strong leadership and visionary policies”.
