Degas House is the ONLY home and studio of the French Impressionist Master Edgar Degas anywhere in the world. Degas painted 18 paintings, 4 drawings, and 5 letters here, in the city of his mother’s birth, between 1872 and 1873.

Many historic designations have been placed on the importance of this “historic museum house” attraction, hotel, and event venue by the city, the state, and the Federal Government, with support from the US Congress, the US Senate, etc.. However, the greatest distinction is provided by the French Ministry of Culture by including the Degas House in its grouping of 236 Houses of the Illustrious around the world. The Maisons des Illustres award includes only 2 in the United States! Degas House has been operating for 29 years. Our lead tour guide is the Great-Grand Niece of the artist himself! Daily guided tours at 1030AM and 1:45 pm by appointment. Groups are welcome.

Also, we have a bar named after Degas’ mother, Celestine! Thank you! Merci!
