According to the joint report by the China Tourism Academy and Online Travel Service giant Ctrip, number of outbound Chinese tourists reached 71.3 million in the first half of 2018, a year-on-year increase of 15 percent.

Chengdu, the host city of Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) was the third largest outbound source market in 2017, just behind Shanghai and Beijing. Chongqing catapulted from 12th in 2017 to the 5th position in 2018. The rest of the top 10 cities were Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuhan, Xi ‘an and Hangzhou.

At this point, tourism firms’ business goal has to be to capture some of these lucrative outbound source markets, and the Chengdu International Tourism Expo is the exhibition they must not miss. Not only are they able to put themselves in front of the outbound travel agents in Chengdu, they will be able to meet with hosted buyers from Chongqing, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Xi’an – all of these in the list of top 10 outbound tourism source markets.

The 7th Chengdu International Tourism Expo will be held at Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center, from 28 till 30 November 2019. The three-day tourism extravaganza, spanning 10,000 square metres is expected to attract 300 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, as well as some 4000 trade visitors and 400 hosted buyers from some of the top 10 outbound tourist source cities.
