Seychelles remains one of the top destinations for the Italian outbound sector and continuous work will be done by the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) to increase the visibility of the market, said STB’s director responsible for Italy.
STB Director for Italy, Turkey, Greece, Israel and the Mediterranean, Mrs. Monette Rose, made the statement after Seychelles was represented at, the TTG Travel Experience Trade Fair in Rimini, Italy held form October 10 to October 12.
The Travel Experience Trade Fair is the main marketplace in Italy for negotiating and networking between International offer and the intermediaries of tourism products.
“We are very satisfied with the outturn of the fair and the whole tourist industry chain was present at the event. The core segment is the wedding and honeymoons, but we are also emphasizing a lot on the sustainable aspect of Seychelles’ tourism, in order to obtain more awareness amongst visitors,” said Mrs. Rose.
Home to pristine white beaches and turquoise blue water, the Seychelles islands are continuously being recognized as a favorite destination for weddings and honeymoons. Early this year, the island nation was voted among the top 20 Most Beautiful Wedding Destinations in the World.
The 55th TTG Travel Experience saw the participation of 150 destination attracting around 1,500 buyers from 90 countries, all interested in the products and services on show at the expo center.
Efficiency, productivity, return on investments and a peek into what the future holds for the industry, are focus areas of the three-day fair. It attracts over 72.000 visitors average every year and around 750 journalists.
Seychelles was present with a 40sqm stand and a delegation of 10 members consisting of Hotels and Destination Marketing Companies (DMC) together with the Seychelles Tourism Board. Apart from STB’s director for Italy, present were STB’s Marketing Executives Mr. Lorenzo Sironi and Ms. Christina Cecile attended.
Mr. Eric Zanconato participated for Seychelles European Reservation, Mr. Eric Renard for Creole Travel Services, Mrs. Anna Butler Payette represented 7 South and Mr. Eric Goblet together with Mrs. Nadine Etienne were present for Mason’s Travel.
On the accommodation side, Mrs. Elena Zasulskaya attended on behalf of Savoy Resort & Spa Seychelles, while Mrs. Wendy Tan represented Berjaya Hotels Seychelles.
Italy remains amongst the top five markets for Seychelles and has seen an increase of 3% in arrivals in 2018. Most Italians, especially when travelling long-haul, are seen as “big spenders” and the outbound segment from Italy has a positive trend.
All the sector´s leaders found business opportunities at the Rimini expo center. A total of 384 events took place, at which indications and information on the evolution of the demand of the Italian and international markets could be obtained.
The decision to hold this edition of the expos mid-week also met with the full approval of both exhibitors and visitors, contributing to the success of the three exhibitions.
The next appointment is set for October 2019 for the 56th edition of TTG Travel Experience.
